A Hallmark shows that an item has been independently tested by a UK assay office to determine its precious metal content. It also guarantees provenance by telling you where the piece of jewellery was hallmarked, what the jewellery is made from, and who sent the piece for hallmarking.

The Shadowed Pearl is a registered jeweller with the London Assay Office and my Full Traditional Hallmark shows five marks:

  • The Shadowed Pearl Sponsor's mark

  • Traditional fineness mark

  • Millesimal fineness mark

  • Assay Office mark

  • Date letter mark

Sterling silver does not require hallmarking by law unless a single piece weighs over 7.78 grams. My underweight pieces are not routinely hallmarked and the majority of my silver jewels will weigh under 7.78 grams and just have The Shadowed Pearl makers/sponsors mark shield and .925 sterling silver mark applied as standard. Anything that weighs more than 7.78 grams will be sent to the London Assay Office to have my full traditional hallmark applied. I am more than happy to arrange for an underweight silver item to be fully hallmarked on request. Simply let me know you would like your item hallmarking in the notes section when completing your purchase, but please be aware that this will add an additional 2 weeks to the lead time and will incur an extra charge. I will get in touch with you to discuss if needed.

(*Please note- dainty/thin pieces of jewellery such as stacking rings will have no marks at all, due the piece being too small to accommodate the size of the marks)
